Shabti of the High Priest of Thoth Djehutyirdis, born of Nephthysiti

Late Period

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 130

Djehutyirdis was High Priest of Thoth at Hermopolis, contemporary with Nectanebo I of Dynasty 30. The museum has 3 shabtis of this man, 12.183.9, 12.183.10, and 30.8.187. Two show the text encircling the front of the shabti, and the third uses a newer fashion of text organization in a T-shape. These shabtis presumably derive from his tomb at Hermopolis, where the worship of Thoth, god of wisdom and patron of scribes, was centered.
